Eligibility
If you are a new employee, you must enroll in benefits within 30 days of your hire date, or you and your dependents will have no medical, prescription drug, dental, or vision coverage. You’ll have to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to elect these benefits, unless you experience a qualifying life event.

You’ll need to provide supporting documentation verifying your dependent’s eligibility to enroll your dependents.
When to Enroll
You can enroll for these benefits within 30 days of your hire date, during the annual Open Enrollment period, or within 31 days of experiencing a qualifying life event:
- Medical coverage
- Prescription drug coverage
- Dental coverage
- Vision coverage
- Limited-Purpose Health Care Flexible Spending Account
- Group legal plan (voluntary benefit)
- Hospital indemnity coverage (voluntary benefit)
- Group critical illness insurance (voluntary benefit)
You can enroll at any time for these benefits:
- Auto and home insurance (voluntary benefit)
- Pet insurance (voluntary benefit)
- Identity protection (voluntary benefit)
- Student loan refinancing program (voluntary benefit)
When Changes Are Allowed
After you enroll, you can make changes only during annual open enrollment or within 31 days of experiencing a qualifying life event:
- Marriage
- Divorce
- Childbirth/adoption
- Coverage loss or gain
You must submit documentation that supports the event.
If you are waiving coverage
If you are waiving medical and dental coverage (Medical and Dental Opt Out), you will receive an annual payment made in two installments (January and July) for the previous six months of eligibility. The amount you receive depends on whether your job is a union or non-union position and is prorated by your scheduled hours. The annual payment for non-union employees is $2,000. The annual payment for the HHA and RN union employees is $1,250. In addition, if you waive medical and dental coverage and are enrolled in the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you will receive up to $4,800 annually toward the Dependent Care FSA in biweekly installments.
