YNHHS Medical Plan
The YNHHS Medical Plan connects you to the world-class care provided by our Signature Network of facilities and providers. You may also use Cigna Open Access Plus (OAP) or out-of-network providers, but you may pay more. It’s important to know that the organization has invested in our employees by keeping out-of-pocket costs—even for Cigna OAP services—lower than many of our health care industry peers.
When you enroll in the YNHHS Medical Plan, you automatically have prescription drug coverage.

HDHP Medical Plans
You have two High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) options:
- HDHP with Health Savings Account (HSA)
- HDHP with Healthcare Reimbursement Account (HRA)
Both plans are administered by Cigna. You can select the HDHP with HRA only if you have Medicare or TRICARE. With both plans, you pay the full cost of care until you meet your annual deductible. Your HSA or HRA can help you cover those costs.
When you enroll in an HDHP, you automatically have urgent care and telehealth coverage, as well as prescription drug coverage.

YNHHS Out of Area Plan
If you live at least 50 miles from a Signature Network facility/provider, you’ll have the YNHHS Out of Area Plan available to you. For those who live outside Connecticut or near the border and have limited access to Signature Network providers, the YNHHS Out of Area Plan offers better benefits when you must use Cigna Open Access Plus (OAP) providers. This plan offers the same Signature Network and Out-of-Network benefits as the YNHHS Medical Option; it pays different benefits when you use Cigna OAP providers.

Working Spouse Rule
If your spouse has coverage available under another employer’s medical plan and you choose to cover them under a YNHHS medical plan, you’ll pay an additional $30 per paycheck ($780 per year). To avoid this fee, you must attest that no other employer coverage is available. You’ll find the attestation in the enrollment process on bswift when making your enrollment elections.
